Learning though play is always new and exciting at ChildsPlace! Our learning centers are filled with new materials and toys each and every week. There is always something special available to challenge and stimulate! We encourage children to explore materials and make personal discoveries through their play. Making choices, completing activities and developing all areas of development - physical, cognitive, emotional and social all come into play as children interact in the ever evolving centers.
Sand, water, rice, salt, snow and beans are just some examples of what can be found in this exciting table! Cups, bowls, sifters, shovels, basters, sand wheels and a variety of other props are also placed in the table. These materials allow children to measure, pour, sift and estimate while role playing and discovering different tactile experiences.
Building blocks in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes are provided to stimulate imagination and creativity. Unique props and visual aids are also added to enrich
children’s interests and curriculum themes.
Role playing is encouraged and enjoyed using dress up clothes and theme related props and materials. Children have the opportunity to be active participants in a post office, a hospital, an ice cream shop, a grocery store and a kitchen - just to name a few of our dramatic play themes!
Children enjoy manipulating playdough, cutting with scissors, painting on easels, gluing collages and coloring with markers, chalk, crayons and colored pencils. The art center promotes creativity and discovery with a process oriented theme. Mastery can be achieved when children have control over their work. This relaxing and fulfilling experience fosters creativity, self-expression and fine motor development.
Early literacy skills are developed and reinforced in a cozy, comfortable, quiet atmosphere. A variety of books are available for selection and are chosen to reflect the current curriculum themes, as well as tried and true favorites. Emergent experiences are exciting and build children’s concentration and appreciation for the written word. In this quiet area a child can look at books independently, with a friend or spend special time with a teacher!
A variety of interesting and challenging puzzles, games and manipulatives are found in this center. Fine motor skills, social skills, memory and language are exercised while played in this fun area!
(Preschool Programs) - Challenging programs are available to introduce and reinforce a wide variety of academic concepts. Computer skills are learned within a child friendly and entertaining atmosphere.
(Preschool Programs) - Our science center is full of opportunities to explore and discover. Learning about nature, discovering animals, planting seeds, observing ocean life or wondering what objects sink or float are just some of the exciting topics that are highlighted.
(Preschool Programs) - Our math center allows children to explore concepts introduced using a variety of challenging materials. Measuring tools, unifix cubes, geoboards, pattern blocks, links and other manipulatives provide opportunities to reinforce counting, adding, subtracting, sorting, classifying, sequencing, ordering skills and other challenging mathematical concepts.
(Toddler Programs) - Children have the opportunity to jump, climb, crawl and roll in a safe designated space in the classroom. Cushion mountains, mats and a climbing treehouse are rotated in our toddler programs. Toddlers have the opportunity to use their energy and bodies in a fun and appropriate way.
