KINDERGARTEN
Welcome to the Kindergarten Program!
My name is Dee and I have been a consistent fixture in the Green Room at ChildsPlace since May of 1994. I am so excited to open a new chapter and room last year with the Kindergarteners! To help establish a more "grown up"l feel for your young learners, I would like to ask that they call me Ms. Kosciusko or Ms. K as they would in the public school system.
I have seen many whole families from the surrounding communities grow and have had the pleasure of teaching so many siblings. Some children I once taught are now driving! We have a wonderful community at ChiuldsPlace, which you are now a part of-hello! Always know that your participation is encouraged in our classroom. Ask what you can do!
I have a BS in Human Development and Family Relations from the University of Connecticut with a concentration in Early Childhood Development. I hold a level 4 New Hampshire Child Development Bureau Credential for Lead Teacher. I have worked with children since 1995 in every capacity from student teacher to director. I love to be an active participant so have made teaching my profession of choice.
I look forward to helping your children grow in all areas of their development throughout the year. All children grow and learn at their own rate and I will strive to ensure each child is challenged at a level and pace, which is appropriate for them. Our classroom family will help each other and work as a team during the year as we grow and explore how much fun learning can be!
Hello, my name is Stacey Trofatter and I am thrilled to be starting my first year at ChildsPlace. I have worked with children since 2005 in every capacity from student teacher to Assistant Director. I have a BS in Human Resources from Southern New Hampshire University. I obtained my Teacher Certification through Franklin Pierce College, which allowed me to achieve my New Hampshire K-8 Teacher Certification. I hold a level 2 New Hampshire Child Development Bureau Credential for Lead Teacher.
I am very excited to start the fall at a new school with new friends and some familiar faces. Children are an inspiration; each holds promise for our future. They supply us with endless rays of energy, enthusiasm, warmth, and hope to keep us going. As a teacher, I hope to motivate your children to do their best and extend their own personal limits. I am a teacher because I enjoy hard work and helping others find success. I want my students to experience meaningful, interesting learning that applies to their lives. I believe we will have a fantastic time accomplishing this through the use of hands-on activities, cooperative learning, and integrated curriculum.
I look forward to meeting all of you and getting to know your families during the coming school year.
Welcome,
Ms. K & Ms. T
CIRCLE TIME
During circle time children have the opportunity to interact socially and strengthen their listening skills. We will begin each day's circle with music and movement songs to build on such skills as strength, balance and the ability to control the movement oft their bodies and to wiggle out the sillies before settling down for discussion time. Everyday we will discuss what the day's events will be and offer friends an opportunity to contribute our own ideas to the group. Concepts of the days of the weeks and months of the year will be introduced and reinforced as the children participate in the daily calendar, counting & rhyming games, patterning and letter recognition with a different letter each week. A job chart will be available and the children will be assigned a different job daily or weekly. Story time will close out each day's circle and will offer an opportunity to highlight special authors and thematic units that are being presented.
ACTIVITY TIME
Weekly themes are reinforced through hands on projects during activity time each day. Each project is designed to broaden the children's base of experience with the understanding of the weekly theme. New concepts and activities are introduced with an emphasis on the development of listening skills, fine and gross motor skills, creativity, eye-hand coordination and social skills. Science, nature, math, reading, social studies and multicultural concepts are incorporated into our activities.
Teachers and children gather in small groups where they explore and create with a variety of materials. Children are encouraged to let their self- expression and creativity shine! Bulletin boards around the classroom display unique colorful activities that the children have created. Children are excited and proud to show family and friends their masterpieces on the walls each week! Be it painting, cutting, gluing, coloring, building, cooking or designing - you can be assured that activity time is always new, exciting and educational!
