WELCOME TO THE DEWDROPS ROOM TODDLER/PRE-SCHOOL PROGRAM Dear Families, We are delighted to welcome all of our new families and friends to the Dewdrops Room. We are looking forward to working with all of you and sharing our "family" here. Hello, my name is Diane Indoccio. This is my forth year as a teacher at ChildsPlace. I started in the Sunshine Room and this year I have watched those students move on to Kindergarten! I am happy to be teaching in the DewDrops Room again. This is such an amazing year for children. Their self help skills flourish along with the beginning stages of preschool academics. I previously worked as a paraprofessional at East Derry Memorial Elementary School for several years prior to moving to Hampton. I also have worked as a nanny for a wonderful family in Atkinson. My teaching experiences here at ChildsPlace have been very rewarding and I have met many loving parents and children. I am looking forward to being a part of you and your child's life. Hi, my name is Suzanne Stomboly. I have an Associate Degree and am currently taking Early Childhood coursework to work toward a n Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. I have been teaching young children for over five years and absolutely love it! I am so excited to be in the DewDrops Room this year. It will be a pleasure to get to know you and your child and to help them continue to learn in grow! Hello, my name is Nancy Devine. I have a degree in Graphic Design from Keene State College and am presently working on my teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education at Great Bay Community College. This is my fifth year at ChildsPlace; in previous years I have taught in the Rainbow Room and Preschool Programs. I look forward to working in the DewDrops Room with Diane and Suzanne and watching your children grow and learn in this wonderful age of discovery and learning. We have planned an exciting curriculum full of traditional seasonal themes and subjects, but have left ample room in our plans to allow for the children's emerging curiosity. This style of teaching draws upon the children's own unique interests and skills, and allows the teachers to tailor-fit the classroom experience to the needs of each child. It is our goal to create a classroom environment that is safe and inviting, but also offers children the opportunity to stretch and challenge themselves as they become more independent and confident in their abilities. We are thrilled to be a part of the process! We are always available to each of you for questions, concerns, joys and sharing. Welcome, Diane, Nancy and Suzanne CIRCLE TIME Circle time is a joyful time for toddlers. The children develop language, memory and social skills while exploring new concepts. Story time is enjoyed while friends sit together listening to stories that focus on the theme being highlighted. Flannel board time is a favorite - especially when it is the child's turn to put the flannel piece on the storyboard! Songs and fingerplays are shared while children join in to sing along and follow the teacher's fingerplays and actions. Participation is encouraged during circle time and repetition of its components helps children foster language and memory skills. ACTIVITY TIME Weekly themes are reinforced through hands on projects during activity time each day. Each project is designed to broaden the children's base of experience with the understanding of the weekly theme. New concepts and activities are introduced with an emphasis on the development of listening skills, fine and gross motor skills, creativity, eye-hand coordination and social skills. Science, nature, math, reading, social studies and multicultural concepts are incorporated into our activities. Teachers and children gather in small groups where they explore and create with a variety of materials. Children are encouraged to let their self expression and creativity shine! Bulletin boards around the classroom display unique colorful activities that the children have created. Children are excited and proud to show family and friends their masterpieces on the walls each week! Be it painting, cutting, gluing, coloring, building, cooking or designing - you can be assured that activity time is always new, exciting and educational!
